Build:
MSI B350M Mortar
Ryzen 7 1700
Stock cooler (Wraith Spire)
Case somewhat ventilated (I can't feel heat coming from the exhaust fans) (or this is considered poor ventilaton??)
Dumb brain and poor decisions
Like the title, I might have stupidly updated the BIOS while "Game Boost" and "XMP" was activated. That mode boosted my clocks to 3.4GHZ, but at the cost of increased temps (80-90C). After the BIOS update, my clocks are "normal" (1.2GHZ while idle, 3.0 base, 3.2 on load - the default clocks for Ryzen), but my temps are still wanky (45*C at 1.2GHZ, 85*C at 3.2GHZ).
What's weird about this is I've NEVER had such high temps. The highest I've ever went on load (video export, Cinebench, ect) was 75-ish, now it reaches 90*C after 5 minutes at full load.
Could someone be so kind as to explain what has happened? Did I pernamently screw up my system? How can I "reset" everything?
Also I've seen people overclock the R7 1700 to as high as 3.8GHZ with the stock cooler, with no problem whatsoever. Is my thermal paste (or installation of heatsink) faulty? Or is it just the motherboard's fault for not poor heat management.
Thank you all for your time.
