i am kinda in a bind as far as what would be best with price per performance , im disabled and going through dental implant surgery which costs a fortune so i was curious , would it be better to downgrade to a 240 hrtz 1080 p hiigh quality monitor or keep the 144 hrtz (overclockable to 165) 1440 p monitor i have now and upgrade the gpu? if the gpu is the way to go as i mentioned i dont have much money , ive been looking for remanufactured or lightly used 3080's 3090's but i cant find any and i was told the 4070ti (not basic 4070) would be a great card for 1440 p gaming with my setup but those are a bit pricey as well, i do believe i have posted about this before but i cannot find the article, i still have a ways to go until i make up my mind so maybe card prices will be lower or with my bad luck they will be higher lol. if the 4070ti is the sweet spot will i need to upgrade my psu , this pc is literally 1.5 months old so everythings new in it and how much would i gain with a 4070ti over my 3060ti?

if you can find the other article and this is a double and it needs moved please do so and i apologize

What is your upgrade budget?
well i just spent $2150 on this tower without a gpu lol which to me is craaaazy , but around $600-$700 MAX cheaper than $600 would be a bonus , im pretty sure ill have to get a 240 hr tz 1440 p monitor to get the frames If i go the 4070ti or 3080ti/3090 route the 144hrtz will hold me back .

What is your upgrade budget?
technically i could put this 3060ti in my other pc that i swapped out for this one to get the most money i can from that to get the gpu/monitor , the other pc is a r5 3600, 32 gigs trident 3200 cl16 ram, if i out this gpu itll be the 3060ti, seasonic psu, cooler master master box case , msi b550 m provdh wifi , but i dont know how much that'll sell for

For your budget you could get RTX 4070.
well wouldnt m y current monitor hold me back as far as frames fdrom the 4070?
like i would need to cap the frames right? by the time i have the extra money will probably be the end of summer , so if i went the 4070 / 4070ti route would i also need a higher refresh rate monitor? and if so would i go with 1080 or 1440?

the 6950XT is better than a 4070 and almost close to the 4070ti in non RTX games.

this asrock model goes for 610 USD, your 850W PSU is just enough to power it.

You can see the performance figures in comparison in this 7900XT review article.

I do not want AMD appreciate it though

I don't know, if you need it.
Do you feel your gaming experience unsatisfactory?
Right now I get 140-150 depending on area of the new map, on the big map I only get 120, in ranked I have to cap cause it'll go to 170
-180 with horrible ghosting cause my monitors only 144, but when I try to play against people with better pcs and higher frames with better lows and 1% they win 99?99.9% I'll go gen 140-150 in a gun fight to 120 in a they'll stay at 200.

I'm not a pro and won't ever try to be but i do want to play new games also but right now I can't afford anything crazy it'll take a while so I'm thinking gpu then monitor later down the road., never did answer if IL need a bigger wattage psu if i upgrade the gpu, this ones bran new and not cheap lol.

That depends on your GPU upgrade choice.
RTX 4070 , RTX 4070 ti, RTX 3080 - none of those would require PSU upgrade.
850W is plenty.
Okay I see the 4070ti is a lot of money still $800 approx, that's the card most people said would be the best for 1440 gaming over my 3060ti as price per performance, they stated the 4070 wouldn't be a huge upgrade so it wouldn't be worth it so im lost on what to believe

4070 actually is quite a significant upgrade over 3060 ti.
It's ~ 150% of 3060 ti performance.

With me having a stroke I get confused easily, I watched the videos and it's consistently at around the 3080 performance and not that much higher than the 3070ti unless I got confused which is a high probability, it was only 17% higher than the 3070ti which I know is alot but I dont know if it warrants the $600 upgrade ,if you were in my shoes with my budget what would you do?

RX 6950 xt all day brother!!! Don’t waste your money on the Nvidia 4000 and AMD 7000 series. But whatever you do end up getting, just make sure it has at least 16 GB or more of VRAM. I will make an exception for the 4060 Ti 16GB edition but it’ll be slower than an RX 6950 xt so only get if you are “afraid to break up with Nvidia” sort of speak (no offense)

The only reasonable upgrade is the RX 6950XT, it has 16 GB of VRAM which will last a lot longer than the 12 GB cards in your price range while being comparable in raster performance to the 3090.

My cpu is lightning fast

I'm extremely happy with my 5800x3d most builders/techies consider the 5800x3d the only good cpu they've made, I do not like amd gpus they are hot boxes and their drivers are absolutely terrible, I've also read and been told they are horrible for video editing and digital design, my pc isn't just for games but I could be wrong

the driver support is much better, especially with the previous gen 6950XT. You wont get CUDA related support in productivity software and it draws 350W power, but the performace and driver support is there.

Not sure who you are listening to as far as amd CPUs. The am3+ socket yes they could have done much better but since ryzen came out back around 2017, they’ve done much better. They had growing pains but much of that was resolved long ago and they’ve really had some competitive products.

Regarding drivers, I concur. I’ve owned some nvidia cards and amd cards. The last 2-3 years the amd drivers have improved. I prefer amd gpus more lately the nvidia has been acting. As far as them running hot, can’t speak to their higher end, I’ve got a 6700xt in my pc now that I’m happy with. A friend of mine recently went from a 3090 to a 7900xtx and is happy with it. He even told me the other day if they came out with a card with 4090 level performance at a decent price he might even upgrade again (he’s got a bit more money).

+1, I’ve got a 7900xt and it runs cool and quiet. Never had a single problem with drivers.

5800x3d is overkill for your current gpu, get a better gpu and stick with 1440p 144hz as I think it requires same gpu power as 1080p 240hz so its a useless change. If you really only want nvidia get a 3090 or a 3090ti, last gen have better value especially if you get a used gpu. Btw AMD gpus are relatively faster in CoD than Nvidia, a 7900xtx is faster than a 4090 in MW2, especially at resolutions below 4K.
