Question I need 165hz but laptop doesn’t have dp port.

I have a Dell G7 15 which has a 1060 6gb graphics card. I bought this new monitor that says it goes up to 165hz. The monitor has an HDMI and DP. I’ve learned that HDMI dos not support 165hz. I wanted to use the DP but my laptop doesn’t have a DP port. I bought a cable that one end is HDMI and one end is DP but it did not work. My monitor is Dell S2417DG

You're out of luck. You will not be able to get 165hz with your current laptop and there is nothing you will be able to buy that can allow you to do so.
