I need a better cooler

I have and amd phenom II x4 955 be at 3.8ghz and since a got an under par 955 i have to up the vcore to 1.435v

I had a cooler master hyper 212 and it got hot, then i got the corsair h 50 and it idled at 50c but never got above 55c but i dont want that high of temps at idle. What cooler would be perfect for my cpu, Water cooler would be fine, 125$ budget

I have a cooler master V8 and it cools my phenom II very well...I idle at 34 - 36 Celsius @3.6Ghz...

those 2 coolers that you have had is very good coolers, maybe you have not mounted them properly?? what kind of thermal paste have you used?

I use arctic silver and i was positive they were mounted properly, my corsair idled to high and my hyper 212 wouldnt cool it.

Noctua NH-U12P. 39.5c at OC idle and a 15c difference of OC CPU under load(!) EDIT: make that 19c difference.

Sure, for stock speeds the Hyper 212 only looses by 2 degrees but with a CPU overclock the Noctua is in an entirely different league. The hyper doesn't even come close.

Still feel your Hyper shouldn't be running that hot on idle though...
