I need a cheap but good motherboard to replace in my HP 100-5154

just over 2 years old the motherboard has the dreaded BIOHD8 error code. All I am finding is well over 200.00

If so, that is a proprietary designed MB. You are not going to be able to replace it with anything other than an exact replacement. Consider a new PC.
