I believe a FX 8350 will work with that chipset. I know its compatible with the socket

edit: I did some research and the 8350 should work with that chipset. Just make sure you have the latest bios update.
Warning: Your motherboard does not have any cooling on the VRM so I have no idea if the vrms will overheat and shut down the system under full load due to the higher power draw of the 8350.

The 8350 will be much better than what you have now. Not as good as a modern intel but it will still be a major upgrade.

Hey!

These lads above are right, the 8350 will do you fine, but the motherboard is seemingly quite ancient. You have options, but some recommendations are to take a chill pill and wait for perhaps the AMD Zen chips or upgrade immediately. An Intel Upgrade would obviously be a good thing as they are far newer, but the FX-8350 would serve you good still.

However, you should probably look into upping the Motherboard in the same sweep if you upgrade immediately, i'll write a few down that people have recommended me back in the day;

ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
MSI 990FXA Gaming
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0
Gigabyte GA-990FX

Personally recommend the Sabertooth one, served me good and overclocking works absolutely amazing.

@ItsSpicy the only reason to recommend an FX CPU is because he already has an AM3+ board. If he were to get a new motherboard it makes no sense to get another AM3+ board, he'd be better off just switching to Intel (or Zen once it's out) at that point.

I absolutely agree; I did not see any mentioning of any budget, so I recommended the ones that would work in case he wanted to stick with the CPU and not swap out the MOBO + CPU to Intel etc. Maybe I should've been more clear, though.

Do not... I repeat... DO NOT buy a 125w FX for that motherboard. Your performance would be worse because of constant throttling courtesy of your motherboard.

The FX6300 or FX8320E would be a minor upgrade for you, but I highly recommend just saving enough money to get a newer better cpu+ motherboard.

Zen is only a couple of months away, so better wait to see how it goes...
But if it's not as good as they say, then better switch entirely to Intel indeed, it wouldn't be a good upgrade to get a 95W FX CPU 🙁
