I need a good external hard drive for xbox one

I want a good external hdd that is at least 2tb or more and has to be usb 3.0. Also how do you format it to be able to store games/apps?

Best thing for external storage is a docking station. Then you can use it for multiple purposes.

Just pop in one (or 2) regular internal HDs and your good to go.

You can format it by attaching it to any computer and using Windows Disk Management

I agree with Jack. Most external HDDs are 5400RPM drives so you get bottle necked by their speed. With a dock you can buy a decent 7200RPM drive that will allow for faster load times.

Toshiba makes a 7200rpm USB 3.0 drive. I just bought the 5TB versions for my Xbox One last month. The performance is at least as good as the internal:

If you have a microcenter by you, it runs $130. It's a little louder than I like, but it works great.

I actually could not believe it works as good as the internal, but it does. Now I can get all of the free games with gold without having to uninstall.

The Xbox One takes care of the formatting when you attach it.
