For the people that have trouble getting certain crap.. like in your case this monitor.. Why don't you make one of your Good TOMSHARDWARE community buddies that actually live in the USA... and make them buy your monitor and just pay for the shipping and stuff, and make THEM ship it to you!

Try ecost.com. They ship to Canada via borderfree.com. Borderfree.com will figure out the exchange rate,shipping, duties and taxes and give you a final price. The Hitachi CML174 shipped to Toronto was 1195 $CDN. Having it shipped to Montreal should be around the same cost.

Thanks guys, both those sites ship to the north pole .. err.. i mean Canada.;P I also called hitachi support and they gave me two Montreal reseller numbers. I called this store and the guy was really surprised to hear about a Hitachi ,.. said he can't remember the last time someone wanted to by a hitachi lcd... This other guy at another store i called told me " i'm lookin for it.. but i dunno why you would even want one of those things" turns out he says Samsung 171p are much better.

i know it's kinda digressing away from my original topic , but does anyone know why i shouldn/should buy a samsung 171p ?like .. is it bad for games or.. will 20 pixels die at the same time? i'd appreciate it cuz they guy seemed pretty convinced , although he could sell me the hitachi likewise.
