I need a long range wifi extender that will cover two buildings about 75' (or so) apart. the buildings are stucco and clay tile. At present we even have problems between rooms because of the stucco I am told. I am willing to replace the modem as well... Thanx!!!

Terrific beginning, Kanewolf! ,,, THANX, Muchly... so far we only have the small pace modem from Hawaiian Telcom... we are on dsl because there is no cable here. Our phone lines are 50 years old so have horrible wifi as is... what else do I need to complete and beef up the system. I considered asking the phone company to put one new direct line to the modem. What do YOU think? Will that help?

The way this would normally be wired is: modem -> router -> Engenius ... EnGenius -> WIFI access point (where -> represents ethernet cable).
Since you don't have a lot of internet speed, you could use a pair of WRT54G for the router and access point. A step up would be something like a pair of Asus RT-N56U. I have two of the Asus units as access points in my house.

A new phone line to the building might help you be able to subscribe to a faster DSl, only the phone company can help you figure that out.

Thank you sooooo much! finally got the phone co out today and they rewired part of the house ... tomorrow i will start with the setting up and adjusting and HOPEFULLY will conquer the wild-fi!!! Got them to give me a modem only piece to go with the Asus equipment... heard that would add stability and once I am done moving the pieces around they will come back and redirect the dsl signal to the modem instead of the several directions it is going now.

YOU are the one who gave me a kick-start so I am grateful!!!... Dawn
