I need a laptop for school. I'm a senior in high school, but I want this to work for college too. I could get a cheap thing now and just deal with it, but I'd prefer to have something that lasts a long time that I become emotionally attached to. My ultimate goal is to have the perfect laptop.
I used to have an HP dv6, but I sold that to my mom to build my current PC. I loved that thing, but I've read that HP has deteriorated in recent years. I'd still be willing to try them. I've been laptopless for about a year now, only having an Aspire One that originally had Windows XP on it. I installed 7, but it's just really slow and I can't stand it.
I want something that has a nice keyboard, something I'll enjoy using. Typing on the Aspire One is absolute bliss. I don't like Lenovo keyboards (I think Lenovo is overrated in general). I also want something with the mouse pad and buttons separated. I know this is childish, but anyone with any appreciation for good laptop design can understand this. The functionality of that setup is just terrible.
I've searched around, but anything in my price range at the moment ($400) is either shitty, or it hasn't yet been found by me.
Another option is to wait around, get some money to afford something really nice. A product that can game isn't necessary.
Edit: I updated it because I didn't want to type in the little window Tom gives you when asking your question.
