I'm looking for a new monitor, i'll use them for gaming on the PS3, PS4 and PC. Price has to be beneath $200. It has to have headphones jack/speakers. Please let me know which one is the best out of all these. Choices:

Asus VX248H

Asus VN247H

Asus VX238H

These are Asus monitors, because i heard a lot of good things about them. Now, if you have any other suggestions for monitors, please let me know. And, would an IPS monitor be good for console gaming?

Yes, this monitor comes with console moniker, but its a great PC gaming monitor as well. Its serves both the purposes.

Update:

Just because I've ASUS badge doesn't mean I've to only recommend ASUS brands alone. In other words, that's called unbiased recommendation. At the same, I've seen people like you pass ignorant comments like "fanboy", just because if someone with ASUS badge recommends ASUS products.

And your comment only proves that you've already made up your mind to buy only ASUS. So thats why you responded with statements like, "i'm not really familiar with BenQ", "Are you sure you can't recommend me an ASUS monitor?"

You asked for a good gaming monitor and suggested you one. BenQ makes pretty good monitors that offers great performance at a reasonable price.

Cheers!

Lol
>Has ASUS badge
>recommends BenQ

Anyway, i'm not really familiar with BenQ... Are you sure you can't recommend me an ASUS monitor?

BenQ vs Asus:
Both make great monitors. I'd recommend looking at the CUSTOMER FEEDBACK at multiple stores (Amazon, Newegg, NCIX) which for some reason can be significantly different averages for the same product.

Asus and BenQ also make not-so-great monitors so I'd recommend just looking at feedback.

You have the pcpartpicker link, so I'll post this and have a look, then give my recommendation below.

Monitors:

*There are TWO listed here. One is an IPS panel. One is a TN panel. There are pros and cons, but basically:

IPS - at 5ms response will have slight ghosting, but COLOR and viewing angles are better than TN
TN - at 1ms response will have minimal ghosting, but COLOR and viewing angles are worse than IPS

I personally prefer IPS and could not go back to TN, others prefer TN. My monitor is IPS and a slightly higher response time than 5ms, and while I do notice ghosting it's mostly on very dark screens; I'm more than willing to get that slight ghosting for the advantage of better color/viewing angles.

There's no right answer, just preference.

1) Asus IPS: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vn248hp

2) Asus TN: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vn247hp

Summary:
Do your own research, but those are my top choices so far. Both are similar with 2xHDMI (and VGA), 1920x1080, 23.6", speakers (which you won't use likely).

I'll post this and double-check they have audio OUTPUT for headphones or speaker.

Asus monitor update:

AUDIO-> both listed above have two, 3.5mm output for SPEAKERS as well as HEADPHONES.

HDMI audio should automatically change as you switch between console and PC. So you can have both running, such as the PC on for downloading or whatever but it won't affect the sound.

For your setup, you'd likely use HDMI output for audio from PC and from your console. I'm not quite sure how PC audio works using HDMI. I know for my NVidia card it has to be selected as "NVidia HDMI" output in Audio Devices (or NVidia Control Panel) and I think it used the card for audio not on-board sound (or sound card).

I did try my GTX680 using HDMI attached to my stereo desktop speakers (which are pretty good stereo speakers, M-Audio AV40) and it sounded just fine to me.

You could obviously use your normal audio output but that would make sharing the desktop speakers difficult. Note there's only support from monitor output for STEREO speakers.

(If using the graphics card only and that is how it works, you might as well DISABLE the on-board audio through the BIOS. Note that if you normally connect to the PC front output for headphones you will need to use either the MONITOR or your SPEAKER headphone output since selecting your GPU as the "audio device" you won't have on-board sound selected. Otherwise you'd have to TOGGLE between sound solutions in "Playback devices."

The HEADPHONE jack is under the monitor so not the easiest spot to quickly attach headphones. If you use SPEAKERS though they have to be turned on which I dislike because my 40W speakers add a lot of heat. I suppose you could hide a short EXTENSION cable wrapped in behind the monitor for easy connectivity. Not sure if an extension cable mutes or no... probably not.)

I'm sorry if i offended you by saying those things, i just thought it was funny, but that's my humor. And i definitely don't call you a fanboy, because i hate those guys (looking at XBone and PS4 fanboys). Anyway, thanks!

Hey man, thanks for the big help. I'll look into some IPS panels, like the MX239H (https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-mx239h). Feedback would be appreciated.
