I need a product key??

I can't upgrade to windows 10 for some reason, I've never had this problem and I've went from windows 7-10 like 3 times. Now I can't all the sudden and it's asking for a product key and there is no way around? What do I do to fix this?

I have windows 7, I did another install from the disc because I got a new CPU. I want to upgrade to windows 10. I downloaded all important updates and I'm up to date. I go to get windows 10 and it asks for a key

Oh. You've gone back and forth 3 times on this same Win 7 license?
If that is the case, you'll need to call Microsoft. There is no magic bullet.

A new CPU or a new motherboard and CPU? Windows 10 ties to the motherboard of the system.

Call Microsoft. That is the only entity that can 'fix' this.
Going back and forth 3+ times may have caused the activation server to choke.

It wasn't like, on a regular basis it was over the span of a few months but I guess I'll have to call.

Doesn't your old (win 7) key get upgraded to a windows 10 key (tied to motherboard) after a month? Meaning you cant use your old key again?

Do not know, I do know that I just used my windows 7 key again yesterday when reinstalling windows 7 so..

How are you trying to 'get Windows 10' ?

Going to the website like usual and clicking upgrade

So what you should do is create your own USB or DVD install media. Rather than 'the Upgrade thing.
The details of your system is already registered at home base.

You do NOT have to install Win 7 first, and then Upgrade again.
From that same Upgrade website, download the Media Creation tool and create your USB or DVD
Boot from that and install.

For a Win 10 Upgraded from something else, that is not needed.

I have found the problem, I called them and they found out somehow windows was not activated??? I don't even know. But they activated it for me.

Which Windows...your Win 7? Well, there ya go.
As above, you do not need to install Win 7 first.

Create your install media
Install Win 10, wiping out ALL the current partitions on that drive.
See what happens.

Yeh, they activated it for me. They controlled my computer though, kinda scary lol. But I don't know how to do that
