I need a way convert my digital (optical) audio output into Aux (input to home theater.)

Alright my TV (Samsung LED TV H4250) only has one audio output, and it's a digital audio output. I can't use this for my to Home theater (Samsung speaker 2.1) . Please suggest some options that will allow me to listen to audio through my home theater.

its worth paying attention in the future when buying some of these things.

you cant convert optical without expensive parts because its over light while most other outputs are analog

This will definitely be your best option. Some of your household receivers may be able "convert" the signal for you, but you're out a piece of equipment just to convert the digital signal.

Always check the outputs of new electronics to make sure you can directly connect to your pre-existing equipment.

Many of us do "pay attention" and ask questions readily of the store personnel where we "buy some of these things". However, often the advise is incorrect or incomplete, perhaps from not understanding what they sell or what it is/is not compatible with. Your response is a typical engineer's response: You can invent interesting devices; but you cannot communicate their effective use and setup to anyone. Suggest that you learn both sides of the equation.

Most TV's has headset output. For 2.1 sound system is enough 3.5 to RCA cable.

My self Anuroop Vincent,I had also similar issue.I also bought Samsung 4250 Smart TV.The issue is that here is no mini jack or any analog output port.Only optical audio out port.So you should buy a Optical to Analog converter(Toslink something like that).you can buy this online(Its price is starting from 800 INR to 2500 INR) please make sure that optical cable is with the adapter(you will get this along with the adapter but make sure the optical cable and power adapter is with the Audio adapter ). also you should buy 2 pin wire(normal cable that connect from setupbox to the TV or you can reuse this by unmounting from the setupbox).Then you can connect to the tv and Home theater.Then you should change the settings in the tv by taking menu->sound-> Speaker Settings -> then change TV Speaker to Audio out. After changing this you can hear the wonderful sound from the home theater.
As a temporary work around you can hear the setupbox channel voice through the home theater.there will be 3 pin cable for the setup box one is for video and other 2 is for audio.connect audio pin to the home theater and the video pin to the tv you will get the voice through the home theter and video through the TV.but if you use USB or youtube you will not get the sound through the home theater so you have to buy above things and connect to the tv and home theater.Enjoy with Samsung 4250. ..this is a awesome tv.you can contact me in following mob-[do not post your personal info on a public forum](please call me in between 9.00PM to 10.00 PM otherwise i couldn't help you[i will be in office in the day so please don't disturb me])

I am having the same issue at the original poster. If I purchase that DAC adapter, what other cables would I need to make it work? I'm basically trying to connect a USB gaming headset to an aux audio jack on the back of my external monitor.

You can use the headphone jack with analog splitters attached and plug your home audio into those. Works for me.

Good answer. Cables do NOT convert anything. They only "Carry" the electro-magnetic force from one location to another. It takes some kind of active device like a DAC or other semi-conductor to do conversions.
