I need a wi-fi booster

I would buy an inexpensive wireless router (like TP-Link) and configure it as an access point (turn off DHCP, give it a static address, use a different radio channel, and attach it LAN to LAN port to the Arris). It is best to place the wireless AP in an area of poor signal. If you cannot run a cable, you can use a pair of powerline adapters to get the signal to the AP. Wireless extenders do not work very well, and I would recommend an AP over an extender.
