i need advise on the best video card for a 3 monitor system

OK I am running 2 R9 280x in crossfire and im thinking of stepping up to R9 290 or better. Is SLI better or crossfire should i replace the monitors or the cards and if so what cards or monitors are best im Running 3 Acer 24 inch at 5760x1080 refresh 60 hertz do i need faster refresh also thinking of going 4 k i get 70 to 80 fraps in BF4 on ultra my system is Intel Core i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz

on the r9-290/290x xfire is arguably as good or even better then SLi (depends on who you ask, the bridge-less xfire really works well)

on the 280/280x xfire is clearly 2nd rate compared to SLi... so it does matter what cards you're talking about; i've seen some horendous SLi results at high resolutions on the gtx970, though i think that's more to do with RAM limitations then SLi issues.

oh wowzer... you bought 2x r9-295x2? going for the serious gpu power i see. lol

At that point i'd say grab yourself some nice 24" 1080p 144hz monitors (IMHO 24" is the max size 1080p looks good when at desktop distance, if you plan to have the monitors a little further away then normal then 27" monitors work good too); something like these-
