So this will be my second build that I have done. I am giving my first build to my brother who is mainly into video editing and 3d modeling which consisted of an i5 4690k, Msi 980ti, and 16gbs of ram. Right now he has like 4 kinda crappy slave computers handling the processing for his bigger projects. But, its time for an upgrade to his main computer. So what better way then to build a new computer for myself and give him my old one (especially with black Friday coming soon, maybe I catch some deals?)

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
My first build was air cooled, is it worth the jump to liquid cooled?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LED 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
I have a 1tb hard drive ready to go for this build

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1080 8GB STRIX Video Card

Case: Corsair Crystal 460X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

This build will be mainly used for gaming and video editing.
Thank you!

I assume your bro using Adobe Premiere + After Effect which favor Intel's cores count and nVidia CUDA core. This also be CPU or GPU render machine, real time preview in viewport, and Adobe mercury playback engine. So this will be his b'day present.

  • ■MSI X99A Raider
    ■ Intel Xeon E5 2630L V4 + LGA 2011 stock cooler
    ■ 32 GB DDR 4 kit (4X8GB or 2X16GB), large RAM is useful for multi layer and multiple frame effects.
    ■ GTX 1070
    ■ 500 watt or more 80+ gold (such as your 650 G2 pick) certified PSU for two GTX 980Ti, 760 watt (corsair AX760) for three GTX 980Ti, ....so on.

    • Video editor gaming combo

Yeah definitely gsync 1440p gaming and vr with the Htc vive.

    • Video editor gaming combo

      ■ 6700K is the fastest CPU for single thread program, having it would help faster apps load, scene load, and certain completion of program.
      ■ Investing on CPU AIO liquid cooler saves maintenance times, yes 100i v2 consider to be good for overclocked 6700K.
      ■ Aside from personal taste, make sure your motherboard accommodate current and future needs. Feature such as Thunderbolt, USB 3.1, WiFi, 32Gb M.2 etc.
      ■ Check from Gigabyte Z170 Gaming 7 website for Vengeance LED 3200, make sure the extra "speed" paid will run at "3200MHz speed", you'll better spend for best high speed storage such as Samsung 960 PRO rather than unofficial JEDEC speed DDR4.
      ■ GTX 980Ti consider to be top tier graphic card for 3D rendering, I know new GTX 980Ti still available. With GTX 1080 able to play new titles at QHD 2K 144Hz at maximum image quality setting, two SLI GTX 1080 at UHD 4K, having two GTX 1080 will help your bro for his network GPU base rendering,
