[SOLVED] I Need an Upgrade but what should i do?

Im currently running
i7 6700k (corsair h150i)
32GB trident 3000 2x16
Gigabyte gaming G1
gtx 970
ADATA 256GB SSD
20TB EXT
3 monitors

I game on the side, but i mostly Edit/color/trans-code 4k-8k Footage. i want to upgrade to something that can run smoother. Currently running into problems on Resolve when scrubbing/exporting 8k footage. (Error code 33) I want to know the cheapest but most efficient way to upgrade. be it a new GPU or a new CPU. (don't really have the money to do both) Seeing that my CPU is a 6th gen and my MOBO supports up to a 7th i would also have to spring for a new mobo as well. Should i go 1080/ti 2070/80/ti? AMD or stay with Intel?

Your CPU should be alright, but getting an RTX 2070/2080(ti) would help with that really high-resolution video editing.

Would a 1080/ti have much of a disadvantage compared to the 20 series to my knowledge the only big difference is the ray tracing.

More expensive for worse performance.
