I need heat advice

Okay here is the deal. I just bought the compents for my new computer. Which is an amd althon 1 gighertz. Currently I have one fan in the front of the case, a heatsync/fan combo on the processor. A fan on the graphics card and one small fan over part of the mb. As well as your standard fan in the back on the power supply. The system tempature stays around 20 to 34 degress celius. But the cpu temp fluxs greatly. Curretnly it is at 34 degress celius. But can spike up over 52 easily while playing games. Currently I am running it with the cover off to help with the heat problem.

My question being what is the best solution for me to fix my current heat problem. I have 2 places in the back of my case for more fans to sux the hot air out. I was also thinking of perhaps getting one of thoese pci exhust system. But I am open to any and all suggestions. I would perfer to not have to buy the stuff online do to extra shipping and handling costs etc.

Thanx in adavance,
Nick

But isn't any small amount of degress over a problem in the long run? I have an abit-k7-raid mb. I did read that they scale up by 10 degress celius is this true?

here's a neat solution if your case fits the description.

I noticed that on the mobo side of my case (with cover off) there is a hole in the moboard mounting plate, directly behind the cpu (effectively looking at it's backside)
So, i drew out a shadow of this hole from the mounting plate to the cover and installed a standard 80mm fan to it blowing in directly on the back of the cpu.

This adds a lot of cooling to the mobo and cpu and provides alot more air circulation. My temps dropped a whole bunch after that.

Then I added a fop38 and....well....all is good.

the KT7 does run the hotest- but 52 degrees is actually average in games. You'll be ok- trust me. My 700mhz classic Athlon runs at 52 degrees in games and i've had it for over a year now- no problems yet.

Be careful with putting a find behind the mobo, the temperature might get a lot lower, but since the thermal sensor is on the mobo you are probably cooling the sensor more than the CPU itself, the reading might be lower than the real thing. But I think is is a good way to cool off the mobo.

yeah, i thought about that too.....i wonder how i could get around that.....maybe install a thermal sensor somewhere else.....

but even without the fan, i was around 38-40 C so i'm not worried.

But yeah, it does help cool the mobo for sure.
