Im looking to build a PC under $180, i would like it to be able to run Fortnite,CS:GO does anyone have any tips on how to go about this? Can you guys tell me what i should buy and possibly send me links to stuff on Ebay? Could i buy a Dell Optiplex 790 DT with I5-2400 3.1 GHZ, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD, and i can just but a GTX 1050 or a GTX 750TI? And 250W power supply, or should i purchase a different GPU? And what GPU will fit in a DT?

Solution

In theory, yes. But in reality, no. The Dell PSU for the DT PC has a PSU with a +12v rail rated for 17.8A. That is enough to safely run a GTX 1050 Ti. I had a SFF version of the Optiplex 790 with a smaller PSU rated for 17amp on its +12v rail and a GTX 1050 Ti that ran great for years before I sold it. As far as I know, it's still running.

But you would have to use a low profile GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti. The 1050 Ti is about 11-12% faster than the 1050.
i have a keyboard and mouse and i have a windows key already.

I hope you have a monitor too.

Wolfshadw put one together that is capable of gaming at low rez. kinda surprising, but I guess it can be done.

My alternative suggestion was to get a refurbished Dell Optiplex MT and add a gfx card. But I see you already came up with that yourself. (And added that to your original post since we answered.)

Yes, that would get you a great 1080p gaming PC. The i5-2400/GTX 1050/1050 Ti you mentioned above would out-perform the one Wolfshadw put together by quite a bit. Did you see one you're interested in?
