Ok,
So this year I'm joining VFX course as i have decided to choose my carrier in this field so I am building my PC (the tower mainly) and i have decided the specs. I want you to know that I will be using this PC mainly for gaming (high-end) and my editing work, both at top priority and some other daily work. 😉 Plus, I need answers to some questions that are really bothering me. Thank you in advance though :)

Specs that i decided :

Processor - Intel core i7 6700K
GPU - Nvidia GTX 960 or 1070(maybe)
MoBo - Asus Z170-K
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR4
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB (internal) + 1TB external drive

Here is the list of my questions 😛

Q1. PSU. I don't know what PSU i will need because i don't know how much power this configuration will need. So please suggest my the PSU. :)

Q2. Will my PC bottleneck ? I know that the processor just came out last year and should not have any problem with GTX 1070 compatibility but will it work fine with GTX 960 ?

Q3. Is there something that i should upgrade or degrade or is this fine?

I will be really thankful to anyone who can help me out with this problem. :) Please reply ASAP.

I work in a VFX office, so I'm only comparing the specs in your rig to one of our typical ones.

Q1 - For the PSU, you will need one that has some horsepower. Most of ours are around 700W, which does the job well. Haven't had many issues with these around this wattage.

Q2 - I honestly don't think it will bottleneck with this configuration, no. Our artists have never complained of slowness on anything in their rigs.

Q3 - I would upgrade the RAM in there to at least double. Most of our artists use Maya and Nuke, and those programs are resource hogs (assuming you might be using them as well). I would go to at least 32GB of RAM. Some of ours even have 64GB in them for the EXT versions.
