I need help building a WW2 combat flight simulator

Hi,

This is my first post here but I have been reading this forum every now and then for at least 10 years now. I read it when I get some issues with my computers or the computers I fix for my friends and family. Most things I can't solve myself, I usually find the answers here. So basically, I would like to thank this community for all the help you've given me throughout the years.

Now, I am thinking of building a computer to run IL2 games so it wont be a problem building this PC. I've build about 6-7 PC so far and I shouldn't run into issues as far as the basic goes (Power supply, MB, RAM, PCU, etc). I'll probably be also getting some Saitek Joystick, rudder pedals and panels.

My concern is more concerning the display that I want to produce. All I have seen so far with people that built flight simulators is they connect several screen and and increase the field of view as all there screens are in front of them. What I want to do is more like a cockpit view where I'll have a screen over my head that only shows what is above me and my plane. Is it possible to have a screen displaying only one section of a field of view? (Wish I could draw this up for you guys)

Of course I will inquire in the game forum as I believe my question related to the software program as much as hardware.

Ummm, well most games will let you use the Nub on top of it, I believe it's called a top hat, to "look around" and thus look up through the cockpit of the plane.
It's the games that would have to offer support for a monitor to display that "angle" I think you're talking about, as I think you want to physically look directly up and see something.
