I need help finding a new motherboard that will be work

I HAVE A PCI GRAPHIC CARD AND I HAVE 2 EXTRA SLOTS(?) AND I WANT TO GET A BETTER GRAPHIC CARD BUT PEOPLE SAY I MIGHT AS WELL BUY A NEW MOTHERBOARD BUT I WANT IT TO BE COMPATIBALE WITH MY SYSTEM AND IF I CANT BUY A MOTHERBOARD I WANT TO BUY A NEW SUPED UP TOWER.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

Your processor will work in a more modern motherboard, but you will also need to switch out the DDR memory for DDR2. Also, depending on the brand of computer you are upgrading, the power supply and/or case will need to be changed. There is also the issue of video: If you get a 965G motherboard it will come with (marginal quality) graphics. Otherwise you will also need a PCI-E (not just a PCI) videocard.
So...why is it that you want a new motherboard?
Maybe a souped up new system makes more sense.

To be more specific, do you currently have a PCI or a PCI express graphics card? Also, is your chipset a 915p, 915g, or 915GV? Please download and run CPU-Z, which can be found at the following address, and get back to us with what is says under the mainboard tab.

i have 525mb ddr2 memory. i cant get pcie card cause mine only takes pci card. it has 3 slots but i dont know if i can buy 3 cards and put them in???? I bought Scarface the game and i cant play it

If your chipset really is a 915p/915G, then you should have a PCI express x16 slot on the motherboard. Is this the information that cpu-z told you? You've confirmed the lack of PCI express slot by open the computer and looking? Are you currently using the integrated graphics, or a PCI graphics card (if so, which one)?

Well, yes if it's a card, no if it's integrated.
I would guess that you have a microATX motherboard with integrated graphics and no PCI-E slots. There were lots of 915 boards like that out there for system builders trying to meet a low price point.
What does it say on the outside of the case? Any brand name?

Looks like you do have a i915G chipset, but HP was kind enough to screw you over anyway.

Look at that those solder spots where the PCIe slot is supposed to be. How nice. :roll:

Judging from your posts, I'm going to take a guess and say that you're probably not familiar with building computers, much less modifying OEM cases to accommodate aftermarket motherboards (while the mobo itself is mATX, the front panel wiring will likely have to be modified to support a new mobo, and lets not mention that you're Windows XP will no longer work). My suggestion to you is to purchase a PCI graphics card, as it will be much easier, cheaper and you'll be happier in the end. Besides, a PCI video card will hold its price for quite a while, as new cards hardly ever come out for PCI, so if/when you buy a new computer, so should be able to get a large amount of the original purchase price back when you sell your PCI card on Ebay.

Nothing. You have enough ram. You need to buy one of these two video cards if you want to play that game.

If you want a better gaming card, wait a little while longer for vista and directx 10. The 8800 is the only choice I know of right now, and you still pay dearly for it. There are lots of good boards for your 516 cpu. I would pick one that's core2 duo ready, such as the gigabyte p965-ds3. If you want a decent video card, get a decent 500-600w power supply to go with it. Expect it to cost at least $75. Anything less may be a lightweight, cheap unit. I had one fail in just 4 days.
