I need help regarding gpu and psu

I have been looking to upgrade my GPU and PSU I am thinking of getting this for the GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127699 and this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182263. My question is are these a good choice and is there going to be any bottlenecking with my CPU (Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66ghz)?

If so is there any recommendations on what I can upgrade the PSU and GPU to, without upgrading my CPU?

ur gonna be bottlenecked with that cpu, my recommandation, upgrade to an i3+ram+mobo+gpu for a real performance gain, i wouldnt invest more in that system, its a waste of money.

my budget is only just over 300 bucks, I can not afford a new build it is something I would have to save up for and it would take a year or so to do so (college student without job). If I am going to bottle neck it I am thinking of getting this card instead MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit true it is lower, but if absolutly necessary my q6700 is a G0 so I can overclock, but it would have to wait till I can afford the aftermarket fan. what is your thoughts on this?

hmm, id just keep ur processor, get an aftermarket cooler and overclock it, and get that videocard, how much ram do u have?

I have six gigs or ram, the reason I am doing an upgrade is due to the gpu and psu are not that great as is. It currently has a gallaxy gt 520 (mid 90 on cuda cores) and a dynex psu that is known to blow up before it reaches max load on the 12v rail. personally I just need the pc to run current games at 60 frames or better on medium or higher settings(currently get 24. To 24-34 fps). I know that maxing out this pc would not be wise and I know that due to the money spent to max it out, the benifit would be little to what it is worth. With me being in college with no job it took me 6 months just to get the 300 to do this upgrade. I can either upgrade the cpu or overclock it, upgrading it is a waste due to mobo can only handle intel core 2 duo or quad cores, so getting the i series is not an option unless I buy a new mobo on top of the psu and gpu upgrade. It would take me another 6 months to get the money to do that and I would rather use that kind of money to do a complete new build. it would be another 3 months to have enough to afford the 100 bucks to get an aftermarket fan for the cpu to overclock it, so that is where I am at financialy and situationally.

I am basically waiting for either the gpu to fail or the psu to fail.

within ur budget and nice upgrade, also with this closed in liquid cooling system will be good juice for ur overclocking 😀.

wow, you definitly gave me something to seriously think about, thank you. I really appreciate your input. I have read that my cpu can go up to 3.0ghz depending on my ram and mobo, so I will have to do more research on overclocking it before I make a decsion. I do not want to make a mistake and either corrupt the os or fry my rig. I know the steps for the most part by going into the bios go into the cpu clocks and adjust it by 1 then go into the ram clocks and adjust accordingly to maintain the mhz which I think it is 800 and then adjust the voltage 1 then reboot. Rinse, lather and repeat until satisfied and the system is stable by using a program such as Prime 95, correct? Although I got to make sure it is not locked of course.

ur cpu can hit over 3.4 dude, but if u arent comfortable overclocking maybe i could recommand something else.

it would not hurt to have other options, I know it is relatively easy to overcolock the cpu, but it is just as easy to make a mistake that can do damage. Maybe when I start a new build and have another pc to fall back on I will try to overclock this cpu
