Hello everyone, so I am trying to update my Intel motherboard bios in hopes to make my new asus gtx 1070 8gb work! my motherboard is Intel DZ77SL50K and I went to download the files but there are like 4 options to chose from and I have no idea how to do this!

Here is my motherboard and the bios update files :

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22789/?product=63246

Which file do I chose and can somebody walk me step by step on how to do it! my mobo has a F7 update option at the start if that helps in anything!

Thanks in advanced.

I read it more than once and tbh I have no idea lol this is my first time doing this and I am afraid of breaking something since I have zero experience..

I guess so but if it makes my new card work then I will take the risk because otherwise I will be forced to replace the mobo and pretty much everything.. 🙁

Here something related to your scenario.. Personally i don't think it is necessary to update BIOS to use a new card.

Anyway have you tried that card? what kind of a error you getting... also it will be easier to get into a different solution if you mentioned what you have including the PSU..

Thank you for the link. I mean from the look of it my only option is to update tbh since my current bios version is 0055 which is a stock version and the latest one is 0097 so it would be a huge jump plus I think my card is not working because I am using a legacy bios as Wolfshadw mentioned earlier and I don't know if updating maybe will make it a UEFI compatible? I have no idea.. I am really not sure what to do at this point!!

I have a brand new evga g3 750w power supply and when I installed the card and power the pc on its stuck on the bios splash screen or whatever its called and doesn't allow me to press any button like F2 to go to the bios or anything its just stuck on the screen with a beep sound every 20 sec

Go into Disk Management.
Righ-click on the drive that Windows is install on (Typically Disk 0: ) and select properties.
Click on the Volumes Tab and report back what is says for Partition Style.

If it states MBR, then you're using Legacy BIOS. If it states GPT (or GUID Partition), then you're using UEFI.

Here is my Source Article, but I'm not certain you want to undertake this without first making sure that BIOS is the issue.

What is the exact model of the ASUS GTX1070 you're trying to install?

Yes it says MBR and I am using windows 7 ultimate 64bit just to put it out there.

My card is this exact one : https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/DUAL-GTX1070-O8G/

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing anything on the support site for that card which states it requires UEFI. At this point, I'd probably want to chat with a customer service agent to make sure it will run under legacy BIOS.

As for the OS, the card does have Windows 7 64-bit drivers available, so that's isn't likely the issue.

Yep :/ the thing is before I bought it I searched like everything and I was pretty confident that its compatible with my system 🙁

What do you want me to do? should I contact somebody to verify that it works under legacy bios? or should just update the bios and see what happens? what do you think? and thanks for taking the time to help me I appreciate it.

Okay, I will report back asap.

So I contacted asus customer service and they say it doesn't matter the card works in both ways and it only requires a PCI Express 3.0 bus standard or an old versions of PCI-E so it should work both ways!

Your suggestions?

Ok. Again, I don't see anything in the BIOS updates which states it resolves a graphic card issue, so I wouldn't even bother with that. If ASUS states that it doesn't matter which boot option you use (BIOS/UEFI), then it should be working out of the box. At this point, I'd be looking more towards your power supply, power supply connectors, the card, and the expansion slot itself.

Since it's a new power supply, I'd be more suspicious of the card or the expansion slot. Any other cards work in that slot?

Well, I have a gtx 650 ti the one I wanted to replace and it works fine in the same slot with the same brand new power supply so basically I wanted to upgrade the PSU and the GPU. First I ran DDU removed all the old drivers then I turned the PC off removed old PSU and old GPU which is the 650 ti and installed PSU and GPU turned the PC on the and screen is stuck on the bios splash screen with no respond from my keyboard (I was trying to enter the bios with no success even though my keyboard light is on) with a beep sound every like 15 to 20 seconds. so I removed the card and put the old one and everything works again...
