i need help upgrading my cpu, and i do not know exactly what i should upgrade to. Ive tried searching the web from its system model, to which different processors i can put in and am still stuck. I have an Biostar N61PB-M2S which is the mother board and the processor i have in is a amd phenom 8400 triple core. the memory is 4 gbs and the graphics card is geforce gts 450

What you have is a really outdated cpu, and motherboard. The AM2 line is pretty much dead. Your board will only support CPUs with a 95w TDP or lower, which means some Athlon ii x4's and Phenom x4's up to a 9550, which was used $110. With the x3 you have now, you ate quite far up the ladder, so an upgrade to an x4 will not see you any significant gains. Sorry, but your best bet would be a new mobo and CPU like these

Of course if you have an older 32bit version of Windows, it will only support upto 4Gb of ram, so go with 2x2Gb sticks, slightly cheaper.
