Hello, I have an msi pro solutions Z170a sli (non plus) motherboard. Paired with an i5-6500. My question is this can A bent pin on my cpu prevent my ram from working? I have 4 Dimms of Kingston Hyper s fury 4×4gb) on the motherboard with the Ez debug Led the only thing lighting up is the Dram. Cpu isn't lit nor Vga. But I tried a single dimm in each slot, Switched out the dimm in each slot and all the same Dram is lit. Nothing else. Would the cpu be lit up if the pin was bent? I haven't taken the cpu off yet due to lack of additional thermal paste. But can use stock heatsink for the time being if needed. Please help.

Well just reading around. I built it Thursday and have yet to get it to display. The cpu led isn't lighting up at all. Just the Dram and I read that could be a concern. But I tried a single dimm in every slot and nothing changes.

The cpu led not lighting up means that you do not have a problem with your cpu. It only lights up if something is wrong.

What is the gpu?

Also are you using an old hard drive or ssd with the operating system already on it with drivers for a different setup?

You never said if the parts are new or used.

Anyway it is possible that the motherboard is set up for a different memory speed. Especially if it is a used board. Unplug the computer. pop the little battery on the motherboard then wait 10 seconds to reset the bios. Put the battery back on the mb. Plug the power back in and then see what happens.

I should have added that info. It's an msi pro solutions z170a sli. I got it to boot.. I reread the manual and I was to use dimm2 first. Everything I am using is brand new. Ssd/hdd. Now the issue I have is I bought a kit of 8gb (4×2) and 2 of the kits. Kingston Hyperx fury 2133mhz. I updated the bios, Installed and updated Windows 10. However with 2 Dimms in it's only registering 4gb. And if I place in the other 2 Dimms it doesn't boot at all.

A question. If you pull one kit out and put the other kit of 2 sticks in do you get the same result?
Also are you using DimmA2 and B2, for the 2 sticks. One kit has to go into Dimm A2 and B2 and the other kit in A1 and A3.

Last thing, i was looking at the bios for that motherboard and noticed that one of the updates improves memory compatibility. So what is the bios on that board?

It does kind of sound like you have bad Dimms.
