[SOLVED] I need help with an upgrade

A little background. In 2014 I build my own pc with an budget of 500 euros. These parts were the AMD athlon x4 750k(with fm2 motherboard), r7 260x, corsair cx430 bronze, and 8gig ddr3 ram.
A friend of my gave me a GTX 970 voor 95 euros so when this happened I wanted to upgrade further by changing my cpu motherboard and RAM. but its been a long while since i've involved myself with pc parts so I have no clue what is good bang for your buck stuff. I'm not looking for 4k triplescreen etc gaming I just wanna enjoy 1080p gaming on one monitor with generally high settings and 60fps. so I just wanna have a simple upgrade which doesnt drain my bank account.
can someone help me out with this?

Well I dont know yet I want just enough for the GTX 970 to work to his fullest, I dont care if its an intel or AMD cpu but Ive heard AMD is cheaper and pretty good these days, I just dont know which one to choose. and as long its around 300/400 euros

I previously owned a GTX970 with a i5-3570 (3,4GHz) CPU they get along very well. Both of them have about the same performance.
With those you can play 1080p Assassin's Creed Odyssey 60fps, but I think the GPU would be the bottleneck for High settings there.

I had average 40fps with medium settings and 2K resolution (via benchmarking tool there). Both the GPU and CPU was running on 100%
Warframe on 2K resolution running in windowed mode (you have more FPS in fullscreen) 60-90fps with High settings.

Note that GTX970 can't decode VP9 video codec (Youtube HD videos using it) so it will fall upon your CPU (i5-3570 had no issues with 1440p/60FPS and 4k/30fps videos only couldn't handle 4k/60FPS but since you are 1080p/60fps that always ran smoothly (about 50% CPU usage).

Overall, just get an i5-3570 equivalent or better (it's quite cheap) and you will be fine. Tho I would suggest something more up to date CPU.
A Ryzen 5 2400G should suffice, 4c/8t (2400G) should give you more stable (and maybe slightly more) FPS than 4c/4t (i5-3570)

Ryzen likes high frequency RAM but I am not 100% sure if 3000MHz would be or not an overkill for R5 2400G, you may decide to choose the 2666MHz RAM SkyNetRising suggested above me.
If you have the budget you can get a Ryzen 5 2600 or the Ryzen 5 2600x but the 2600x may be an overkill for the GTX970 but if u decide to upgrade your GPU in the next 1-2 years then I would suggest to go for it.

PS: I currently have DDR3 1333MHz RAM for those numbers I said above.

I would say either i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600. The 8400 is a bit better on gaming but often more expensive so depends on what prices are like in your country.

Yes, that would do fine with your 970.
