Build Advice I need help with building/upgrading a PC for video editing ?

Dear Toms Hardware community,

i hope this post is in the right category.

The dad of my girlfriend does a lot of video editing on adobe premiere Pro (the last standalone Version, 6 i think?) , but his pc cant really handle 4k editing (i7 2700k, NVIDIA 1060).

I want to help him upgrade his pc for a budget of around 1000$, and i was thinking to get a system with an 8700k and a 1080ti as well as 32gb ram.

Does that make sense for 4k editing, or is it too weak?

You're in the right category but you forgot to include info we usually ask for from any user to help us get up to speed on the matter/build, akin to this thread. If your gf's father does video editing that pays for a roof and food on the table, consider getting something with DDR5, meaning the latest and greatest from either AMD or Intel. Time = money in that regards.
