I need help with motherboard

I've started to make a computer but the power supply came with a 20+4 pin connector and the motherboard needs all 24 in one slot. The problem is that there's a 4 pin connector that is just empty now. Should i take the 4 from the 24 pin connector and use that or should i just let it be?

Dont use the 4 pin connector; it's for the 12v port only near the cpu. You don't need to use all 24 pins for most cpus; my compaq board came that way, with 4 pins left open.

when i left the slot open, everything worked but the processor fan

motherboard will work without that 4 pin means 20 pin power supply is enough for boards .that extra 4 pins are for auxiliary purpose only . so don't worry . enjoy ur system

If the cpu fan isn't turning, that may be an issue with the fan port on the motherboard. Sometimes they stop working. Try another fan or check the smartfan settings in the bios. Most fans will turn slowly with smartfan, and not stop turning completely.
