Hello, I've recently grew frustrated over my slow CPU (Q9400 @2.67 Ghz)
and decided to give overclocking a try. I'm a very cautious guy i replace thermal paste every 2-3 months, i take care of my parts etc.
But i ran into a problem. You see my motherboard Gigabyte G41M-S2PT Doesn't display Clock Chip Ratio at all, it only gives my fine clock cpu ratio which even if i set it 0.5 and displays its 2.83ghz in Bios, is still 2.67 in Windows. I don't know how to overclock or why isnt chip clock ratio displaying. if someone decides to help me i will be very glad. I've seen Overclocks on G41M Chipsets and Q9400 is overclockable so i don't know about unsupported cpu and mobo.
here are the specs:
Q9400 @2.67
1x4 and 1x2 DDR3 1333 mhz ram clocked at 1066 for some reason in bios
Radeon RX 550 4gb pulse OC
128gb sdd
250gb hdd 7.2k rpm
and some non popular brand psu 420W but hasnt let me down for 3 years.

You could try using a software for overclocking, it's called SetFSB. I hope you know what you are doing, however, because overclocking is an advanced process and changing the wrong setting can cause permanent damage. Overclocking on a stock cooler is also not recommended, so I hope you have a good aftermarket cooler that can handle the CPU running at higher speed.

Before trying the software, have you tried increasing the fine ratio and then stressing the CPU? It could be that the CPU is running slow as there is no load on it, and it will speed up when under load. Do the +0.5 on fine ratio and try stressing the CPU.
