I need help with PSU/Motherboard

Ok, So i tested my PSU without the motherboard and all the Fans turn on the CD Drive the Harddrive but when i connect the PSU to my motherboard the only thing that happens is a green light stays on and nothing Spins or Turns on.

i have a Asus m5a97 le r2.0 Motherboard
Corsair 500 Watt Psu
and AMD Fx-4170 Quad core Cpu
1TB WD Blue Harddrive
1 Cd/dvd Rom Drive

and thats it so far i want to know if my PSU might need more stuff inside to Work?? ive pluged in all the wires and cables too

Did you connect the motherboard switch headers properly? Try connecting the two pins with a screwdriver to start the motherboard.

Also, have you connected the CPU power wire. The 8 pin connector above the CPU?

what do you mean my try connecting the two pins with a screwdriver to start the mobo? sorry its my first build

i did connect the headers the power HDD Led reset led+ and LEd- when i turn it on it just flashes a red light on the front panel and the green light still stays on

i also dont have COM1 connected to anything dont know if thats nescesarry cause my case nor motherboard or PSU came with a cable for that

i did connect the 8 pin connector but mine only Required 4? and it says 12v

That is standard....you did not mention anything about RAM, you have inserted it in right?

Also please mention which RAM it is, link if possible.
