Hi i have been having problems with my computer i built since this last Christmas... i have a NZXT guardian case that has a HDD light on it that flashes green.. the problem ive been having is that atleast once a day my computer freezes and that HDD light on my chassis stays a solid green... if i wait for it to unfreeze it will take forever and it will only happen soon after it does.. so i restart it and sometimes it even wont start up, it will just have a black screen with a flashing -- symbol...i really want to know whats going on and if/how i can fix it.. here are my specs

intel i5 4570 3.20GHz
gigabyte Z87D3HP motherboard
8 gigs of ddr3 ram
a Geforce GTX760 2048MB Gddr5
i have 1 terabyte of HDD and 200 gigs of solidstate
a CX600 corsair power supply

Solution
Try going to the command prompt as administrator and run the command CHKDSK /R it will check your hard drive for errors and if possible fix them. (takes awhile to run, depending on size of drive)
It sounds like you are having a memory issue do you have any RAM you can replace it with to see if the problem goes away? Does you hard drive make a slight surging noise several times before you system resumes action? If that is the case is could be a some bad sectors on your hard drive.
