i need help

think i have a big problem. i store all my movies on my external hard drive its hooked up to my smart tv tonight went to watch a movie and instead of 41 pages of movies, there's 7 pages of jibberjabber.. connected to the laptop and was relieved to see the usage was still there was quickly devastated when i opened it up to find only further jibberjabber HELP anyone know whats happened, and more importantly how to FIX IT

Well i noticed some problem with movies from PC to Smart TV aswell, i have fixed the problem by changing the file type of the movie.

sorry by jibberjabber i mean all folders look like - ╘¬eÅφ, and are non accesable on tv or laptop

Oooh okey, what language do you write the folder in? Do you use special letters like me as a Norwegiand do like "æ,ø,å" or is it only english letters.

english only. my hard drive has gone from having over 300 movies to a bunch of files in wierd writing that can not be opened.

Can i get a screenshot of your TV and your "jibberjabber" files, i also want to know which TV you have (model number)

Can you also tell me which file type your movies is?
To know what file type your file is in, follow these steps below:

- Go to Control Panel (make sure your icons is filter by "Big/Small Icons" and not "Category"
- Go to Folder Option which is listed.
- Go to the tab "View"
- Make sure to Uncheck the checkbox for "Hide extensions for known file"
