I need help

I recently bought a mid-tier gaming laptop (MSI GL62M 7RDX)
- i7 7700HQ
- GTX 1050 4gb
- 4gb ram
- 1TB HD

When playing dota 2 at the lowest setting, I still experience lag. Can you shed some light to what you think is wrong?

ram seems way too low if win 10, check ram usage
also try ultra setting, it should give you 100+ fps easily with your setup and assume no thermal throttling or ram limiting
make sure power setting is highest performance
monitor cpu/gpu temp and usage too, msi afterburner is a good tool, hwinfo too.

just opening dota 2 causes lag, do you think increasing the ram would help with the lag problem?

Is this a new computer?
Check CPU/GPU temp, and I will test HDD health and ram by memtest86.com to make sure they are fine.

A reinstall of OS may help too. Is it Win10?

Do you think it is enough to play dota 2 in mid/high settings? preferably +60fps?
