I'm going to be making my first ever PC in January and as of now I have 2 builds but I don't know which one to pick.

One is Intel, the other is AMD. Buying from Amazon UK. My budget is £400. I have a HDD, Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor.

Build 1

Motherboard
Gigabyte H61MA-D3V - £45.97

Processor
Intel i3 2120 - £87.78

Graphics
MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr 2GB - £153.90

RAM
Kingston 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 - £13.24

PSU
Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK 600W - £56.98

Case
Zalman Z11 Plus - £49.99

Total build = £407.86

Build 2

Motherboard
ASRock 970DE3/U3S3 - £49.21

Processor
AMD Phenom II X4 965 - £70.80

Graphics
MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr 2GB - £153.90

RAM
Crucial Ballistix 2x4gb - £27.96

PSU
Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2UK 600W - £56.98

Case
Zalman Z11 Plus - £49.99

Total build = £408.84

I was thinking of buying the AMD one because I'll be able to OC but can you give your opinion

Thanks in advance

Really depends on your usage. If you're looking for a computer that will game and just e-mail, web and media, then go with the Intel build. If you're looking for a workhorse computer that can also game, then go with the AMD build.

For what it's worth I'd get the AMD system. Just be aware that both of the CPU's you chose are outdated now. A better choice would be the the 3220 vs the FX 4300

What about the 6300 vs i3 3220?

They're both around the same price on Amazon UK. I'll mostly do gaming

Then the 6300 is a better choice right now. But if you get the 3220 you can upgrade to a i5 later, and even up to an i7. With AMD you can upgrade to a 8350, but for gaming, for AMD the 6300 is really as good as it gets because most games don't even utilize 4 cores. 6 is somewhat better, and 8 is completely unnecessary.

I don't plan on upgrading for another 1-3 years.

Shall I go with the FX 6300?

Then the FX 6300 is your CPU. In 3 years we'll all be using Skymont processors and Ivy Bridge will be considered obsolete. Those extra 4 cores will last you a lot longer.
