I need to know exactly what type of replacement batteries to buy for my CP1300EPFCLCD-UK UPS. I live in India. So I imported this UPS from the UK. The original batteries are two small ones connected with a jumper and one red wire from the UPS connects to one battery with a red sticker while the second black wire from the UPS connects the second battery with the black sticker. Both the batteries have something writen on the top right end that says ( CPS7-12 ) and (12V,27WPC/15min./1.30VPC/25C).

Can you please make me understand what this means. My batteries have almoust run out of power and are getting very hot very quickly every time I use them. I have also uploaded images of the batteries below please click the links and have a look. Waiting for a responce soon.

I just want to know the exact battery specifications like Voltage and AH so that I can buy them in India. The UPS is powering up a low end notebook PC and a router.

From Cyber Power Systems' website:

BATTERY

Runtime at Half Load ( min ) 9
Runtime at Full Load ( min ) 2.5
Typical Recharge Time ( Hours ) 8
Start On Battery Yes
User-replaceable Yes
Battery Type Sealed Lead-acid
Replacement Battery Pack RBP0124
RBP Quantity ( pcs ) 1

The RBP0124 is made up of two 12 Volt, 7Ah SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries. Make sure to get the batteries that have the F2 size terminals on them. Reuse the connector cable that is currently connecting together the two batteries.

It only runs 2-1/2 minutes on the stock battery and now you want to reduce the capacity by 1/3?

Handy tip: used automobile batteries that will no longer reliably start a car are perfect for repurposing into UPS duty. At some ~100Ah they will also drop much less voltage while running such a light load so runtime can extend into hours even with not-very-healthy batteries, much longer than the stated capacity would suggest. You just have to monitor that the UPS does not overheat during prolonged operation--after all it was only designed to run for 2-1/2 minutes.

A VRLA battery is essentially the same as a maintenance-free AGM car battery, only smaller. Both are unspillable so can be shipped from Amazon.

I do prefer a regular flooded cell for this application though because the high float charge of a UPS cannot help but make regular addition of water necessary for longest life, so the more sealed types simply don't last as long.

While Dan says
Code:
Charging a lead acid battery also produces hydrogen, which can be an explosion hazard in some situations but is exceedingly unlikely to be one in a home or office, because it'll just rise to the ceiling and find its way out of the building via whatever tiny cracks exist. UPS chargers shouldn't ever push car batteries hard enough that they bubble much, anyway.
, I do prefer to install car batteries remotely outdoors, especially as I am running way more than 1300VA so there are a lot of them.
