My dad has asked me to help him get some files off this old device. It is a little before my time, he says it requires a computer running Windows 95/98. Well we found an old computer that has the right hardware for the time. Parallel port was needed to plug the HP Colorado Backup II. I am wondering if there is some work around. Right now the plan is to find a copy of Win95/98 and install it. But I am curious if there is an adapter or something I could use to connect this thing to a more current setup. These forums have helped me a lot in the past, I have faith someone will understand what I am trying to say. Thanks for reading!

Nope, requires a legacy bi-directional parallel port, either built-in or on an expansion card. It'll also require an OS older than XP. Parallel (and floppy based) mass storage device support was removed starting with XP. It also requires the same software that was used to create the tape. In addition, if the tape is that old there's a very good chance that it's no longer readable.

thats a bit of a pain then seems a lot of bother to go to unless theres something very important on there
