I need some help with these parts

Ok, so here's the deal. I am trying to find good PC parts for a Gaming PC for my brother for Christmas. My parents are buying the parts, I'm just choosing them.
They wanted to go for this TERRIBLE pre-built garbage which didn't even have a discrete graphics card, so I looked for some parts that were good to match the price.
What I need to know is if they are 100% compatible. Before you ask, I have checked on PCPartPicker and there are no major issues (apart from small things which aren't a problem like BIOS updates).
Also, two of the parts are from my old build which I mistakenly bought built from Cyberpower in like 2012 (which I regret because it's terrible) and because I'm upgrading it this Christmas to an i5 6600k with new motherboard, ram and case, I have parts to spare which I hope will work with my brothers computer.
Finally, yes, I know I need an OS. I just haven't included it in this list as it's obviously compatible (I chose Windows 10)

Here are the parts:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K
Motherboard (from my old build): Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-DS2
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600MHz
Storage: Western Digital Black 1TB
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 950
Case (also from my old build): Cooler Master Elite 310
Power Supply: Corsair VS 650W

So here are my questions:
1) Are these parts 100% compatible, apart from the fact I may need a BIOS update and the fact that the case doesn't have front panel USB 3.0
2) Will it be ok to use the old motherboard
3) Is it good enough? My brother mainly plays Minecraft but will it be able to run other newer games as well (I'm pretty sure the 950 is good enough for that)

And yes, it's not the best, but we don't have money to throw around and my brother will probably upgrade the motherboard and maybe RAM for his birthday in May. We just need a good starting point.

Thanks.
