Question i need somme help picking a new PSU (i know nothing about pc builds)

Hey guys,

So i have this old system (build in 2013) and i have had somme trouble latetly . My pc reboots itself when i play games that are intense on the GPU. I can somtimes play all day, and somtimes for just a couple of minutes. But once the reboot happens i just cant play a game without playing it rebooting as soon as i start playing. And i've donne my research and it's most likly my Power Supply . So i was wondering if u guys could confirm that it's my PSU and if u guys could help me pick another PSU that is widely available on most online stores.

These are somme of my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k
Motherboard: MSI: Z97-G43(MS-7816)3.0
RAM : Hyperx 2x4GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970

And possible my faulty PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE730W.

That's a pretty crappy PSU, but are you sure it's the PSU? Sounds more like a thermal issue like CPU overheating, GPU overheating, etc.

My CPU temperatures are about 30-40 degrees celcius idol and maximum 80 degrees celcius on average while playing intense games. Dont think thats to mutch right ?

It's on the higher end, but not going to cause unexpected restarts.

I agree that psu is a little rubbish. What's your budget for a new one?

i think somthing between 100-150 euro's should be fine. the most available brands in my country are Corsair, Thermaltake and Cooler Master.
So preferably one of these brands.

A 550W would be more than enough. Doesn't matter if the current PSU is a 730W if it's garbage and it's failing.

Higher wattage does NOT mean higher quality.

Nvidia recommends a 500w psu at minimum for a build using a GTX970. A corsair RM650 gold (2019) is more than enough.

Yes it will , solid construction! GOOD CHOICE.

The TXM line is of high quality and very well built. Pretty efficient too. The TX550m would be enough aswell.

There both reasonably priced.

Vengeance is a very popular Euro Brand from Corsair, solid\great product!

I would say the TXM is better than Vengence, but either could be used interchangeably.

Definitely circle around if you're still having issues. Like JG, I'm not sure this problem is caused by the PSU, but I'd replace the PSU anyway and if it cures the issue, so much the better.
