I'd head down to the local PC/Tech store and browse the laptops that they have. You can usually try them out on the display shelves and see what feels right for you.

I was hoping for a tad more help than that. Would a quad processor be sufficient or do I need an I5 etc... thank you x

An i5 is what you want minimum imo, you'll need to save a bit more.
