I need to install and SSD, but might be missing some cables

I have a SATA port free and 3 spare drive bays. I already have 2 Seagate Barracuda HDDs but want and SSD as a boot drive and for video games

The problem is a can't find a spare power cable, what do I do? The power pack is a corsair CX430 and is completely sealed off...

if you have molex cables free you can get the molex to sata adapters or one of the SATA power splitters. But that PSU should have 4 of those SATA power adapters is one of them attacked to your CD Drive?

You can get sata power splitters. I would say make sure you aren't topping off your wattage, but an ssd is less then 10 watts.

Isn't that PSU equipped with four (4) SATA power connectors? Doesn't that leave you with at least one SATA power connector you can use?

we were talking about the SATA power connectors, not the same as a SATA port. But the SATA power connectors should be 2 cords for your PSU. Each Cord should have two power connectors. I'm assuming that your two Hard Drive used up one cord and your CD drive has the second cord, on the end. Look at the cable connecting to your CD drive, neard the middle there should be another power adapter. It will probably not reach your drive cage though. Just get this and it should work.

Its pretty easy to figure out once you get the cable, you pretty much insert the power cable that you have attached to your hard drive into the end of the adapter and connect the adapter to your hard drives.

Kinda like how you only have 2 power outlet in the wall, but have 3 appliances. Just get a power strip and plug your extra appliance into that, same concept.

Anyone can figure it out. Fits in just like genetics. Male to female and female to male. You can't fit a male to a male or female to a female (connection).

EDIT: the plugs are all keyed. You can't plug them in wrong.

I myself wouldn't, but one can never be too safe. The chances of something bad happening are really low. Just make sure you are working on a non static surface (wood or plastic tablet) and you de-static yourself against a piece of grounded metal (the case). So long as you don't drop hard drives, you should be find.

is there any issues with this method as far as risks with speeds or power? As long as your power supply can handle whatever you're plugging into it of course. Im installing my first ssd ever and have the same issue. Same style of power supply and no free cords.
