I'm constructing a computer for both gaming and music production, and I need to know if certain sound cards and graphics cards are compatible with the motherboard I have picked out.
Motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/#specifications
The slots on the motherboard say that there are 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16, 2 x PCIe 2.0 and 2 x PCI.
I have a graphics card (http://shop.amd.com/us/Manufacturer/XFX/Detail/GraphicCard/R7-260X-CNF4#Details) that says it is PCIe x16 gen 3.0, and a soundcard (http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sound-blaster-z.aspx#specs) that says it is PCIe x1.
My question is whether or not both or neither of these are compatible with the motherboard I have selected. I am almost certain that one or the other will work, but I haven't found much information on the internet to clarify the compatibility of PCIe.
If you could check out the specs for the products and tell me if they work with each other, that would be very helpful.
