[SOLVED] I need to put windows 8.1 on my SSD from my computer with Windows 10 via SATA Connection

Im trying to put windows 8.1 on my newly bought ssd. i dont want to save any data from the old HDD that is in my laptop right now. Can i just use the old key from the OS 8.1 on the new SSD? Can i somehow download windows 8.1 onto windows 10 and plug in the SSD to the computer with windows 10 on it via sata cable and put windows 8.1 on the SSD like that? i really need some help here guys

Not sure what your thoughts are about downloading Windows 8 onto Windows 10, things don't work that way. You can download the Windows 8 setup media files and then create a USB boot stick using that, and then install Win 8 on the computer with that media. Yes you can re-use the Windows key you already have, as long as it's for the same computer. Once you install Windows, you will need to download the drivers for the computer from the vendor support site.
