I have no idea how to go about this, but I really need it done since I noticed I should be getting better performance as my friends has literally the same setup and a lot better fps and less stutters.

rx 480
i5 4690k
1x4 and 1x8 GB ddr3 1600 mhz

So the branding and size of my ram is different, but I built it in single channel, can I mix them up to still use dual channel or not. And is there something I need to do before switching their places, like do I just move them or do I have to install something. Please I am very new to this.

What motherboard do you have? You should be able to get them working in dual channel, partially (AKA flex channel/mode, because they're different sizes). Are both sticks currently installed and working OK? What exact models are they, or at least what speed/timings are they?

I have an asrock b85m pro4 motherboard. I really don't know their exact models but they are both at 1600 mhz.

Do I have to have an anti static bracelet? I don't have it but I don't want to break anything. Is it fine if I just shut off my computer from the power source?
