Question I need to upgrade ram. Is there a universal ram ? I plan on changing mobo.

Hi all

I plan on downgrading to a smaller case/mobo in three to five months from now.
I need ram and ssd upgrades right now.
My cpu is a Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor 3.20 GHz. MoBo is Asus PRIME B350-PLUS.

Is there a way to research for the ram without knowing the mobo I will be using ?

Unless you go with a 12th gen Intel CPU, basically all you need to know is DDR 4. There are caveats, based on selection if you do change that 1600 out, but for simplicity that should do.

There is no "universal" RAM, so to speak.

I wouldn't buy anything until I was actually ready to build and break out a screwdriver.

cool. I figured same ween I built this one . I contacted asus and they sead my ram I have right now is not on the compadebul/tested part's list. I have had a few problems. but cant pinpoint it to the ram as I got a refurbished graphics card from Newegg a few years ago.
