So, my current PC build is a i3 8100, 8gbs of ram, and a gtx 1050ti. I want to upgrade my PC for around $350 to $500. I was thinking maybe I should get the new rtx 2060 6gb because It has the same performance as a gtx 1070ti but for the price of a gtx 1070, but them my i3 would probably bottleneck it. So I thought maybe I should still get the card, but upgrade my CPU later down the line, to maybe like a i5 8400. Any opinions on this, and btw I am not getting a AMD CPU, because if i did I would have to change my motherboard.

For modern games to do 60fps @ 1440p you're looking at at least:
- GTX 1070
- Vega 56
- GTX 1070Ti
- RTX 2060

though this assumes high settings. Still, the next lower tier of cards wouldn't handle that at 60 even at medium, I think.

1080p @ 144fps I think you'd be looking at a GTX 1080, RTX 2070, or higher.

The CPU will hold you back somewhat, at some point, though.

Best thing to do is run HWInfo or similar, and look at the graphs for the CPU utilization and GPU utilization, see which tends to spend time maxed out or near maxed out.

The answer might be different for different games.

Throw the word bottleneck out of your vocabulary.

The most important questions are:
- Which specific games are you playing?
- What is the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?
- What is your desired graphics quality settings?
- (only if you have a high-refresh rate monitor): what is your desired frames per second? (realistically cannot be higher than your monitor's refresh rate)

Ok so I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, and I want to play pretty demanding games like Cod bo4 , and I want to play modern games at 60fps 1440p or 144fps 1080p on mediumish settings depending on the game
