I now see why people hate MSI

uuuuuugh, today was supposed to be like [strike]x-mass[/strike] Xmas, instead it turned out to be April Fools day.

So I had an MSI 970 gaming board for my FX 8350, had to RMA it. IN the mean time I bought a pro carbon for my FX chip, LOVE this board.

Well I recently decided to buy a Ryzen machine, So I went with an MSI AM4 pro carbon board!

-First AM4 pro carbon had serious problems, sent it back to newegg
-just got the replacement, same thing only more problems.
-in the meantime while trouble shooting hardware guess what lost its PCIe slot? My AM3+ pro carbon!!!!

I had received back from MSI the refurb of the 970 gaming so now i'm on that... that is 4/4 with MSI boards now all different types. In all fairness the pro carbon AM3 was probably my fault for moving it around so much, but heck it had the metal reinforced PCI slot! Tried multiple cards and rams and everything just pooped out on me.

I have an MSI rx 480 as well... if the next AM4 board is just as bad I am DONE with MSI permanently... shoulda just bought intel... damnit!
Been sitting on Ryzen 7 1700x for about a month without being able to hardly touch it. The last AM4 board would not even take a windows install, it would start and freeze... 3 different hard drives to make sure!

I've never had any physical problems with MSI products with the exception of fans and driver issues on motherboards, Sounds like you have bad luck.

Did you update the BIOS on ANY of those motherboards before RMAing them?

You literally just got unlucky thats all. Also why buy intel just get a gigabyte or asus mobo for your ryzen.

yes, I called MSI and thats what they told me. Same thing.
The second board came with a newer bios.

Thanks for the info though. I guess I am unlucky. I am also very much into the knife hobby, and I have bought 5 Benchmade knives, each one had to go back right out of the box. Bought many cracked whetstones and bla buh blaaaa... I am that guy who will get the defective product out of the box. It is very irritating!

Bought many cracked whetstones and bla buh blaaaa... I am that guy who will get the defective product out of the box. It is very irritating!

hahaha! What one was it? I will be sure to stay clear. Are you happy with it now that its working?

One of those water proof keyboard back in 2005. The thing was that the parcel was water damaged and thats why I was getting broken ones. Very water proof 😛.

The only MSI product I have is a H68I chipset motherboard for my A8 7600. Seems to be running well.

Though I don't buy MSI products much (I don't like the look of them), so I wouldn't know a whole lot about reliability issues with them.

MSI is the only board ive had any luck with where AM4 is concerned, I think you just got unlucky thats all.

Okay got the nest board in the mail TODAY! From Newegg... wish me luck!

EDIT: got the new board installed.... IT WORKS!
The iGPU light was on constant, that worried me, but it randomly decided to turn off.

AFTER OVER A MONTH OF OWNING RYZEN, I CAN FINALLY USE IT!
My G.skill ram had no problem clocking up to 3200 at the box CL 14 as well with XMP settings. Time to spend hours updating windows 10....
