I/O Ports Aren't Working

I just built a new computer andI was going through the process of setting it up and my keyboard and mouse worked just fine. I had to shut it off/restart it and after a few times the usb ports stopped working(from the motherboard). I don't know what to do. I tried connecting to the hdmi port via the mobo and i got nothing but the gpu works and the cpu does as well. I'm going to the store to get a PS/2 adapter and attempt that but i feel like all the io ports are not working so i don't know what's going on.

the ethernet port works because it lights up when I plug the cat 5 cable in

toshiba hard drive from my old laptop 500gb
Apevia 500w psu

i Have not installed anything as of yet. windows 7 is on the old hard drive i was trying to restore/repair it

It wont turn on .

It needs a BIOS update to support a Kaby Lake.

The only way you'll do that is buy/borrow a Skylake CPU flash it then put the G4560 back in

And if the hdd is out of something else (and if it's got an OS) on it.

Once it goes, do a clean install of Windows. That'll be why (if it's going) nothing works

What do you reccomend i do?
should i wipe the drive and install windows 10?
if so how does one wipe the drive plus i don't think that will fix the usb ports not working because i never even got past the starting windows screen and they were working previously.

If you didnt do a clean installs 1/2 of the system probably didnt work.

Well you dont install it in windows. You make a bootable flashdrive then boot from it

Then wipe the hdd clean then install it

oh. miss the 7th gen cpu on 100 series mobo, take it to a shop to update the bios

UPDATE: i unplugged the sata cable to my hard drive and the ports work. everything boots but as for installing a fresh copy of widows/wiping the hardrive could someone walk me through it please.

I am currently installing windows 10 on the drive unplugging the drive let the usb ports work thank you all for your help.
