Hello All,

I have an old Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3 (rev. 1.0) which is a Mini-ITX form-factor and it only has two memory slots.
So I decided to upgrade the memory from 4 GB to 8 GB. (it had 2 x 2 GB and the board supports 2 x 4 GB)

Someone pointed me to a Crucial webpage where you can type in the brand and model of your Motherbord and the page will list Crucial memory that is compatible with your motherboard.

So I headed there and got those results.
The results list both single 4GB memory sticks for a 4GB configuration and also 8GB kits of 2 x 4GB sticks.
I ordered one of the listed 8GB memory kits from Amazon CT2K51264BD160B

My order arrived today and I swapped out the old memory sticks from my Motherboard and put the new ones in..
Booting into the Bios I can see that the workstation now has 2 x 4GB = 8GB of ram.

However, when I try to boot into the OS the machine seems to do a hard reset. I.e. all lights turn off, including the power led.
After a few seconds the power led turns back on, and the machine boots again, just to repeat the procedure of power resetting itself.

I took the memory sticks out and noticed that they say CT51264BD160B.

I ordered
CT 2K 51264BD160B
and got
CT 51264BD160B

I.e. the memory I got is missing the "2K" part from the type name.

The memory sticks CT51264BD160B are not listed on Crucial's webpage as being compatible with my motherboard.

Is this technically the same memory or should I return it to Amazon as "wrond product delivered"?

is not the same. one is individual stick
one is a 2x4GB kit that tested together.

Thanks for the quick reply.

But in those cases where memory is tested and sold in pairs, would the marking on the memory sticks themselves include the "2K" part to indicate that they were sold as a part of a tested pair?

Or would the ticket on the memory sticks not include the "2K" part?

would include the 2k part

bought direct from amazon or 3rd party on amazon?

From a 3rd party "COSMORAMA SRLS"

The sticks came in anti static plastic, that looks like it was cut from a large "ribbon" of memory sticks.

This anti static plastic was then packed in bubble wrapper and this bubble wrapper has a small paper glued to it with a barcode "X0014JWDGX" and the memory name including the "2K" part.

I suspect that X0014JWDGX is the reseller's product number and that they bought the CT51264BD160B memory sticks in bulk, cut them into packs of two, and sold them as CT2K51264BD160B.
