I plug in my external hard drive and i am unable to see it on my computer?

I am running Windows XP Pro. I've attached a 1TB Hitachi HD (Sata) to my computer. In Control Panel/Admin/Computer Management/Disk Management, I can see the drive. However, Windows Explorer does not display it. What do I need to do to the display the Letter assigned to the Drive?

I'm guessing you just need to format it in Disk Manager.
If you can see it there but not in my computer, that's usually the case.

Hi arapodaca,

You said your External Drive is visible in Disk Management. Does it have a drive letter assigned - if not, you need to assign a drive letter.
